Segment 06 — Route Information
Below you will find answers to the questions we receive most often about AdventureRoute programmes, booking procedures, safety policies, and the scope of our services. If your question is not covered here, please contact our Whistler office directly and we will respond within one business day during operating hours (Monday through Saturday, 07:30–18:00 Pacific Time).
No. AdventureRoute Inc. is a guided mountain excursion and route-planning company registered in British Columbia. We do not sell airline tickets, reserve hotel or vacation rental accommodations, arrange rental cars, or operate as a licensed travel agency under the BC Travel Industry Act. Our services are limited to designing mountain routes, providing certified guides for on-trail excursions, conducting safety briefings, and supplying group safety equipment. You are responsible for arranging your own transportation to Whistler and your own lodging. We can suggest general neighbourhoods that are convenient to specific programme trailheads — for example, staying in Whistler Village for Lost Lake and Village Circuit routes, or Creekside for Sea-to-Sky corridor departures — but we do not make reservations on your behalf or receive commissions from any accommodation provider.
Start by completing our contact form or calling +1 (604) 555-7391. Tell us your preferred dates, group size, and which programme interests you. Our route planning team will confirm availability, provide a written quote in Canadian dollars, and schedule a pre-excursion consultation. Private custom routes require a 30 percent deposit at confirmation; standard programmes require full payment seven days before departure. We accept e-transfer, Visa, and Mastercard.
Fitness requirements vary by programme. Lost Lake and Whistler Village Circuit routes require moderate fitness — comfortable walking 8–12 km on uneven ground. Sea-to-Sky and Garibaldi routes require strong fitness with 500–820 metres of elevation gain over 11–18 km. Blackcomb Glacier is our most demanding programme, requiring prior hiking experience, comfort at altitude above 1,800 metres, and the ability to hike 6–8 hours. We assess fitness during your consultation and will recommend an appropriate programme or suggest preparation steps.
All prices in CAD include your certified guide, printed route brief, group safety equipment (first-aid kit, emergency shelter, satellite communicator on remote routes), and basic trail snacks. Glacier programmes include crampon, ice axe, and helmet rental. Personal items — boots, layered clothing, daypack, water bottles — are your responsibility. Transportation from Whistler Village to remote trailheads is included only in the Sea-to-Sky Viewpoint Trek; all other programmes require you to reach the trailhead independently or request a transportation add-on quoted separately.
Mountain weather is unpredictable and safety is non-negotiable. If your guide determines conditions are unsafe — due to lightning, whiteout, heavy precipitation, extreme heat, or avalanche risk — we reschedule your excursion at no additional charge or provide a full refund at your preference. We monitor Environment Canada forecasts, Avalanche Canada bulletins, and Whistler Blackcomb patrol reports daily. Cancellations initiated by AdventureRoute due to weather are not subject to our standard guest cancellation fee.
Cancellations made more than 14 days before your scheduled excursion receive a full refund minus a $25 CAD administrative fee. Cancellations 7–14 days before receive a 50 percent refund. Cancellations within 7 days are non-refundable, though we will attempt to reschedule if alternative dates are available. Private custom route deposits are non-refundable within 30 days of the scheduled date. All cancellation requests must be submitted in writing to [email protected].
Children aged ten and above are welcome on Lost Lake, Whistler Village Circuit, and Private Custom routes designed for families. Garibaldi, Sea-to-Sky, and Blackcomb Glacier programmes are restricted to participants aged sixteen and above due to distance, elevation, and terrain demands. All minors must be accompanied by a parent or legal guardian who assumes responsibility for the child's conduct and fitness on the trail.
Yes. Every guide carries a Wilderness First Responder kit, emergency bivouac shelter, and bear spray where terrain warrants. Remote routes including Garibaldi and Blackcomb Glacier additionally carry a satellite communication device for areas without cellular coverage. Guides are trained in wilderness first aid, CPR, and emergency evacuation protocols. Participants should carry personal medications and disclose relevant medical conditions during the pre-excursion consultation.
Absolutely. Our Private Custom Route programme accommodates groups of two to eight with a fully tailored itinerary. Contact us with your dates, group composition, fitness levels, and terrain preferences. We deliver a detailed route card within three business days. Private bookings receive priority scheduling, direct guide contact from confirmation, and flexible departure times. Pricing starts at $449 CAD per group and varies by duration, equipment, and transportation requirements.
Standard kit: sturdy waterproof hiking boots, moisture-wicking layers, rain jacket, sun hat, sunglasses, sunscreen, 2-litre water capacity, lunch and personal snacks, and a 25–35 litre daypack. Glacier routes additionally require warm mid-layers and thin gloves — we provide crampons, ice axes, and helmets. We send a complete packing list tailored to your specific programme during the pre-excursion consultation. Trekking poles are recommended and available for rental through our outfitter partners.
